Join Your Neighbors for the U Street Movie Series This Summer

Want to enjoy outdoor movies this summer on U Street?  Then be sure to mark the U Street Movie Series - Harrison Field Under the Stars on your calendars and on Facebook! 
 
The U Street Movie Series is a project of the Friends of Harrison Recreation Center, with the support of the U Street Neighborhood AssociationMeridian Hill Neighborhood AssociationANC 1B and MidCity Business Association.  From June to September, this FREE summer movie series will pay homage to the musical and culturally diverse roots of the Greater U Street Neighborhood, with a series of documentaries and films telling moving stories of accomplished musicians.  Admission is FREE but donations are welcome

All films will be shown at the field at Harrison Recreation Center, 1330 V Street, NW (on V Street between 13th and 14th Streets, NW). Gates will open at 7 pm. Free popcorn will be provided to the first 100 attendees beginning at 8 pm. Showtime will be at sundown around 8:30 pm.

  • June 8: Michael Jackson’s This Is It (rain date June 15)
  • July 13: Buena Vista Social Club (rain date July 20)
  • August 10: The Soloist (rain date Aug 17)
  • September 14: Duke Ellington’s Washington and Soul Power (rain date Sept 21)
All donations and sponsorships, accepted at http://movies.ustreet-dc.org, will benefit the Friends of Harrison Recreation Center, a committee of the U Street Neighborhood Association, and an official Park Partner with the DC Department of Parks and Recreation which works to involve the community on how to improve the recreation center through capital improvements and design changes, and how to enhance management and programming of the park, with the goal of making Harrison Recreation Center a better designed, cleaner, safer, and better managed park in the neighborhood for all to use and enjoy.
